Post Classic race bikes----Buy/Sell

Post by DonaldH on Thu Aug 20, 2015 9:28 am

Post Classic race bikes buying or selling,at the last Melville race meeting we had a few people looking for machines to race in Junior PCs,the vibe was for race ready bikes,so what a few of suggested we seek out bikes not being used/raced or just gathering dust so if you know anybody who has a bike Junior or Senior class get in touch and we ll try and get a deal done,or if you would rather build your own remember the cut off dates and read the rules...cheers Donald

Yes plenty bikes out there for people wanting a shot at PC racing. We could do with a few more in Senior class, everyone thinks you need to spend a lot of cash on a GSXR or similar to compete but there are still a lot of affordable and competitive bikes around pre 1988.: CBR600, GPZ/GPX600, GPX750, VFR750,FZ750 just looked on ebay and examples of these all for a few hundred. Any brave boys and girls who think they need more power could go for CBR1000, GPZ1000, Vf1000, FZR1000 etc, plenty of choice for under a grand and all can be modified within the rules which is half the fun Very Happy

Hi Gordon, you will find regs in Green year book, any over last few years but in short...cut off date Dec 1987,unless covered by silhouette ie CBR600 87 to 91,just ask and someone will keep you right, right way up forks no upside downers,4 pot calipers ,tyres at moment 150 max Juniors 190 Seniors(I think!)no wets or slicks, again check before you buy...bodywork pretty much anything goes. The theory is to keep bikes of this era racing and to keep recognised Supersport bikes out, hopefully this will help....Donald
