SACU License day Empty SACU License day

Post by Andy Mack Tue Mar 01, 2016 3:07 pm

    Hello,

So i have completed my melville club application and received the booklet and stuff. I got a call from someone (please excuse my ignorance, i am terrible with names) about the SACU License day on the 19th. Does anyone know who it would be that phoned me and their phone number?
I want to check that i am booked on the day, and what i need to bring with me. They mentioned turning up on the friday night too? do i need the bike with me for the friday or just the saturday? The bike does need to be "ready to race" meeting all the requirements? I've ordered brake and clutch protectors but they havent arrived yet.

Can anyone help with this info? I want to try get everything worked out as soon as possible.

    Thanks

    Andy

Tried calling the Sacu? They might be able to give you information you need.If not sure Diana would help you out and her numbers in the green book.Have you applied for your race licence?

Treat it as a race weekend so have the bike ready to race.Lockwired and just water in the cooling system.Sharks fin and lever guards fitted. Also you will need your dog tags and riding kit.

I cant apply for my license till i have sat that day tho?

when "they" phoned, they said they didnt have my entry form for it. but during the conversation they then said they found it.

im trying to find out who it was i spoke to. I want to make sure I have everything in order for the day cause East Fortune is a bit far away if i have forgotten something and have to go home.

Call the SACU and ask them.Fastest way to get your questions answered.

When i done my licence a few years ago you applied for it and then the sacu booked you onto the course and once you complete it you got your licence card that day.Its probably changed since then but i would be on the phone to sacu office today to find out if i was you mate.

Andy, it certainly wasn't anyone from the Club who phoned you. You won't get invited to the SACU New Riders assessment day, if you haven't applied to your licence.

Sorry, had missed this. It really sounds like Bill Davie phoned you. That means you must have submitted your licence to the SACU, and you sent to Bill, the 'event entry form' the SACU sent to you?

Plan is to do the Classroom bit on the Friday night to maximise your track time on the Saturday.

You joined the Club in December, and you should have got your licence form back from me before Xmas. Did you go to the opticians, get the eyetest and fill it all in and send it to the SACU?

I am assuming you have. Or else no-one would be contacting you.

    email billdavie@hotmail.co.uk

Once you are booked on, you just need to turn up on the Friday evening (or Saturday first thing) with a race prepared bike, leathers, helmet etc ready to go on the Saturday.

The Club only provides the venue, the organising is down to Bill.

Yes i received the license application and completed it with the eye sight test and sent it back.

Then i was called by Bill Davie as he said he had not received my application. We talked and then he managed to find it. then he went over some of the information about the day.

But should i receive confirmation? I was told to be there on Friday. But i dont know where or when to be there. Do i need the race bike on the friday? what time do i arrive on Saturday?

I have now sent Bill Davie a text and email so hopefully will get it sorted.

Definitely don't need your bike on the Friday. I think Bill said to be there by 7, but there there will be folk there so come along back of 5 or 6 if you want to get your bearings in daylight.

you need to come to East Fortune. Come in through the gate at the road, and follow road, you'll see the circuit sign, past that, head straight to a row of lorry tyres in front of you. then go straight onto the circuit, and follow it round, you'll see a row of cones directing you into the paddock. Head up to the portacabins on the right at the top.

Bill will tell you that about the Saturday. Either when he responds, or when you see him on the Friday. I'd be there by 9. Think Ambulances booked for 10 - that means we can get bikes on circuit then.

Bill has your licence. You'll get that after you complete the on-track assessment. After that, you are free to go. Or spend the rest of the day in your groups, with the rider-assessors learning the circuit, and getting up to speed, and lots of helpful assistance from the assessors, scrutineers etc.

You will also be able to pick up a 'special' Practice Day entry form, which will give you the Sunday for a discounted rate.

there's no power this weekend. Bring your own generators.

If you put EH39 5LB into your Sat Nav (rather than 5LF) it takes you past the Museum of Flight, right at the T junction and along the road. Turn in to the right, just before the bridge over the railway. Big sign, Woodside Boarding Kennels at the gate.

Wee generators don't tend to be Laughing

You will need to switch it off at 11pm and wait til about 8 to turn it on in the morning.

Your head will be buzzing with the racket, and you will appreciate the Silent Air ones at the meetings after that!!!

So how do you find east fortune if you have never been before? I got lost tonight and sat nav didn't help me.

I was on the road with the museum of flight it was on the left. Was the race track on the right hand side before you get to the museum of flight? (or if you are coming from the other way, on the left after the entrance to the museum of flight?)

If you are coming from Haddington on the A199, turn left onto the B1347 should be sing posted, the musem of flight is up the road and should be on your right on the B1437,go to the top of the road after the roundabout and turn right on to B1377, the entrance is on the right just before the railway bridge , go through the gate with Woodside boarding kennels on it, that's how I managed to find it tonight Smile

If you out EH39 5LB in your sat nav its directly across the road from it or if you use google maps and search for East fortune race circuit it takes you right in , that's what I used ! Hope this helps !
